NAME WORKSHOP

Shape the identity

Start with a tradition and a temperament. Each candidate has four separate name forms. All generation runs in your browser.

Your first introduction
Identity, reputation & story
Sound & spelling constraints
Batch size & repeatable seed

Identical settings and seed reproduce the batch. Restrictive filters can return fewer names; duplicates are never added to fill a batch.

Your candidates

Will readers confuse these names?

A name works in company, not only on its own. Compare the generated candidates with the people, places or objects already in your project. This local check flags shared spellings, three-letter openings and one-letter differences; it does not infer pronunciation or search the internet. Your reference list stays in this tab and is not added to saved names or exports.

Moon Orchard: roots & naming customs

All root meanings and naming customs below are invented creative associations, not translations or claims of historical authenticity.

A lunar name may describe harvest time rather than supernatural fruit.

Three naming approaches for moon orchard

These are reproducible outputs from this workshop, shown before you change any settings. Compare what belongs in everyday speech, a public record, or an older ceremonial identity. Each example lists the exact community, era, temperament, standing and seed that produced it. Try a preset to inspect its other candidates; these examples are fictional constructions rather than historical attestations.

      An everyday introduction

      Residents at the well: fruit
Wild frontier · Reflective · Established
      Seed: field-notes-1
Core length: Short (up to 6 letters)

      Moolia
      Formal: Moolia Moon Orchard
      Alias: Dawn Moonlight
      Founding lineage: Pomelford
Moolia uses root contraction: moo + l + ia. Moonrel → moonlight. Residents contract a landmark root; travelers pair landmarks in route order; survey styles put the second landmark first. A practical root and an easily repeated ending suit a traveling community. Adjacent identical boundary letters are merged. The mixed ending is a fictional style, not a statement about the bearer's gender.
      A public record

      Travelers on the road: moonlight
Civic · Resolute · Office holder
      Seed: field-notes-2
      Core length: Long (7+ letters)

      Pomeon
      Formal: Chartered Pomelegrafon Moon Orchard
      Alias: Dawn Fruit
      Founding lineage: Graftian
Pomelegrafon uses linked two-root compound: pomel + e + graf + on. Pomel → fruit; Graft → graft. Residents contract a landmark root; travelers pair landmarks in route order; survey styles put the second landmark first. A compact root with a register-like ending suits a fictional civic record. Adjacent identical boundary letters are merged. The mixed ending is a fictional style, not a statement about the bearer's gender.
      An older ceremonial identity

      Surveyors in the hall: graft
      Mythic · Guarded · Veteran
      Seed: field-notes-3
      Core length: Long (7+ letters)

      Grafia
      Formal: Old Grafepomelsia Moon Orchard
      Alias: Dawn Graft
      Founding lineage: Graftstead
Grafepomelsia uses reversed two-root ceremonial compound: graf + e + pomel + s + ia. Graft → graft; Pomel → fruit. Residents contract a landmark root; travelers pair landmarks in route order; survey styles put the second landmark first. Open vowels and extended endings suit a remembered oral tradition. Adjacent identical boundary letters are merged. The mixed ending is a fictional style, not a statement about the bearer's gender.

A lunar name may describe harvest time rather than supernatural fruit.

Everyday speech, formal records and earned aliases have different jobs. Select a naming community to change root order and construction; choose a world texture to change the register ending. A family or lineage remains separate from an optional public alias.

Irrigation Reflection: lighting the working orchard

The idealized reflection arrangement reaches the working row span. Change the assumptions to see where this stops being true.

      Scenario quantities
      Decisions that alter the calculation
Stress tests, sensitivity, and feasible plans
Decisions the feasible-plan search may change

The search keeps other quantities fixed, tests only permitted decisions, and shows the quantity it changes. A feasible plan satisfies this model; it is not an overall judgment about the story.

A transparent fictional planning model. Its factors are editable story assumptions, not measured forecasts or professional advice. The run is also included in the name dossiers above.

The flowering follows the irrigation channel, not the throne's calendar

      Who tends the harvest?

The orchard flowers only when moonlight reaches the irrigation channels. A new watchtower has cast the first permanent shadow across its oldest trees.

Choose night workers when the landscape's beauty depends on a working schedule. The mirror connects ceremony to a lasting practical repair. A harvest-name can carry lunar association without making the orchard only a setting for prophecy.

A moon place-name gains substance from a working rhythm. Fruit, water, and shade prevent the orchard from becoming only scenery. Choose a local term that pickers would actually use during a long shift.

      Beauty has night workers

The orchard's unusual light rule affects watering, paths, and harvest shifts. Give the pickers names and a way to tell visitors where they may walk. The tower casts a shadow somebody has observed over several nights. A moon-name can belong to a productive place rather than a generic enchanted garden. The local short form should fit a delivery note and a worker's conversation, preserving the ordinary use beneath the festival's more elaborate introduction.

The mirror must serve separate rows

The reflection model discounts overlapping patches and tower obstruction before comparing reach with the planned corridor. Several panels aimed at the central basin do not illuminate every bed. The span is a fictional planning convention, not botanical or optical guidance. Compare a display arrangement with a working one. If the reach remains short, the tower may need a practical revision rather than another ceremony announcing that the orchard has been honored.

The festival can leave a useful tool behind

Let the mirror's maintenance become part of a shared duty, with a record of who adjusts it as the season changes. An earned orchard-name can mark that agreement. The next year's event should consult the workers rather than assume a previous beautiful result supplies all future knowledge. The setting gains depth when a visitor can ask about shifts, repairs, and harvest distribution, not only the legend of why the blossoms appear under silver light.

Irrigation Reflection: lighting the working orchard

      Moon incidence
Low crescent · Clear half moon · Adjusted reflection
      Reflection overlap
Separate channels · Some shared rows · Same central basin
      Tower shade
No new shade · Partial watchtower · Continuous tower shadow

A mirror installed for the festival becomes a permanent irrigation tool.
