The migration remembers water the map no longer shows

What guides the migration?
A sky whale follows the route of a vanished river. Towns beneath its path receive rain on the same dates their old bridges were built.
Use the vanished river to give scale a traceable route. Choose restoration when the relationship between people and creature can change through practical action. A simple call-name prevents a vast animal from becoming merely a collection of cosmic titles.
A vast creature can have a simple call-name. Cloud imagery should affect scale, movement, and what observers can hear. Give the migration a specific pattern that people must interpret rather than control.
Vast scale still needs particular habits
The whale follows dates and bends that residents can compare with old bridges. Give its movement a recognizable pause, sound, or direction rather than making every appearance a cosmic omen. A simple call-name can work across several communities, while a formal title belongs to an atlas or seasonal ceremony. The creature should have a reason to rest or change course that is not always interpreted as approval or punishment of human conduct.
A restored wetland alters the route
The migration planner counts the extra circuit, current support, and stops before comparing travel with the seasonal window. A younger companion can slow the route without becoming an obstacle to be discarded. The values are fictional, not biological or meteorological estimates. If the margin fails, the writer needs another departure or a shorter circuit. A beautiful restoration does not grant unlimited time merely because its symbolic effect on the creature is appealing.
Different villages can name different portions
Let the whale's route have local forms that preserve several perspectives. Restoring a wetland can attract the migration without giving the restoring town ownership of it. An earned river-name should retain the people who remembered the old course and the workers who reopened part of it. The next year's change can remain a question rather than an automatic verdict. The creature gains a continuing life when residents observe, revise, and leave room for an intention larger than their favorite story.
